#31 - Renovation Project in Abruzzo (Atessa)
This charming country-house has been fully renovated to bring back its original character.
The main theme of this project is the "terracotta": the roof tiles, the roof ceilings, the vaulted ceilings, the fireplace, the floors, the windows sills, the arched door, the well and obviously all the brick-work of the facade. All the original materials have been patiently cleaned and repointed with natural lime mortar. Some of the brick-work (partially ruined) has been rebuilt from scratch reusing the original materials. Where possible we have also used traditional timber beams and rafters, like in the roof or for the lintel of the kitchen door-way. All the old niches and features (like the metal hooks in the vaulted ceilings) have been preserved as well. All the windows have been replaced to add extra light into the rooms. New bathrooms and kitchen (with related plumbing) and complete rewiring of the entire house. Another amazing house in Abruzzo is back to new life!!
